This course and research guide surveys the Old Testament wisdom literature and prophets, from Job through Malachi. The course emphasizes the background, authorship, date, structure, and content of each biblical book in these two major sections of the Old Testament. The course also describes the place of each Old Testament book covered in the overall canon of Scripture. Students are introduced to the structure, content, historical and cultural background, and relevant archaeological information contained in these sections of the Old Testament.
Through the coursework and research, students will be better able to apply the teaching of these Old Testament books to the contemporary church through preaching, teaching, apologetics, and evangelism.
