Research and Writing

Academic research and writing skills are essential for success in graduate school. This guide offers an introduction to essential resources for graduate students.

About This Guide

The academic disciplines taught at Southern Evangelical Seminary fall into the academic classification known as the Humanities. Biblical studies, theology, apologetics, and philosophy are all considered part of the humanities and hence research and writing are done in ways that conform to the standards of disciplines in this category. This research guide introduces you to standards of research and writing in the disciplines taught at SES. The guide also includes a section related to form and style for research papers and writers. The standard for research papers is the ninth edition of Kate L. Turabian's A Manual of Style. Your papers should conform to Turabian/Chicago style especially for footnotes and bibliography.
